Instrument Assembly Technician 3 Job Overview :
The Instrument Assembly Technician 3 is responsible for performing a wide range of assembly tasks, including both mechanical and electronic operations. This includes the assembly of modules, boards, panels, drawers, frames, cables, and other subassemblies. The role involves following detailed diagrams and drawings to assemble and test instruments, ensuring all assembly processes meet the required quality standards.
Responsibilities & Duties :Assembly & Integration :
Assemble multiple product lines and integrate subassemblies into instruments.
Responsible for the entire assembly process, including wiring, component installation, hand soldering, cable harnessing, and fitting on assembly units.
Testing & Quality Control :
Conduct basic component testing, such as pre-assemblies or modules, to ensure quality and functionality.
Analyze test results to determine pass/fail and decide on next steps.
Identify defects and recommend design and process improvements.
Troubleshooting & Repair :
Perform routine and moderately complex troubleshooting, repair work, and adjustments to equipment.
Provide expertise in troubleshooting and resolving complex issues associated with instrument assembly operations.
Documentation & Reporting :
Maintain device history records, including serial numbers, tools, and assembly data.
Work with manufacturing engineering, quality, planning, and purchasing teams to ensure proper documentation and process compliance.
Training & Mentorship :
Provide training to associates, including mechanical and basic testing activities.
Compliance & Safety :
Ensure all activities are performed in compliance with relevant regulatory requirements, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work environment according to safety policies and procedures.
Process Improvement :
Actively participate in continuous improvement (Lean Manufacturing) initiatives, including Kaizen events, safety projects, and blitzes.
Minimum Education/Experience :
High school diploma or GED required with 4 years of manufacturing experience, or an AA technical degree with 1 year of experience.
Experience working in a regulated environment is required.
Basic Skills :
Proven leadership abilities, capable of mentoring and developing others.
Strong mechanical tool knowledge (e.g., torque drivers, gauges, bits).
Proficiency in reading and interpreting drawings, measuring dimensions, and understanding specifications.
Ability to manage time effectively across multiple production orders.
Strong commitment to continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing philosophies.
Ability to work effectively in a team to reach common goals.
Ability to perform tasks in a repetitive work environment and stand for extended periods.
Proficient Skills :
Basic computer proficiency in a Windows environment.
Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve issues during setup, operations, and processes.
Ability to read, write, analyze charts, and follow simple diagrams.
Preferred Skills :
Forklift Certification (if applicable).
