The Certified Medical Assistant - Urgent Care is a multi-skilled clinical professional that provides indirect and/or direct patient care within the scope of practice and in alignment with the standards of excellence and quality. Under the direction of the provider, the Medical Assistant contributes to the completion of the patient’s chief complaint (including, but not limited, to respirations, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, height, weight, and temperature), documents patient/family needs, participates in planning and implementing care for patients, and administers ordered medications (oral, injection, topically, etc.) within the Medical Assisting scope and state guidelines. Essential Job Functions include understanding and adhering to legal responsibilities, identifying significant changes in patient condition, troubleshooting and escalating problems, maintaining clinical and administrative skills, preparing patients for physician examination, traveling to other facilities as needed, maintaining a safe and supportive environment, assisting with virtual health visits, documenting in electronic medical records, managing electronic health record messages, performing front desk workflows, following up on orders and appointments, ordering supplies, and participating in ongoing training. Licensing/Certification requires active Medical Assisting certification from recognized organizations, GXMO Certification preferred, and BLS Basic Life Support. Education requires High School/GED and preferably completion of an accredited Medical Assistant post-secondary education program. Work experience preferred includes completion of externship or clinical lab training and 1 year of recent Medical Assisting experience. Skills required include recording medical history, interviewing patients, preparing and administering medications, collecting specimens, providing prescription information, explaining treatment procedures, cleaning instruments, performing lab tests, general office duties, and strong communication and multitasking abilities.
