POSITION SUMMARY:

Sugarbush Resort is seeking a Full-Time Year-Round Facilities Director to oversee all planning, maintenance and staffing for the facilities department at the resort. Maintaining a smoothly operating establishment requires coordination with other departments inside and out of every building. Budgeting, scheduling, and training for short-term and long-term projects ensure the job gets done right. The ideal candidate will have experience as a manager, and hands on knowledge of project timelines from beginning to end. Come join our team!

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Participates in planning, budgeting and implementing building and grounds maintenance operations, as well as capital improvement projects.
  • Requires constant monitoring of buildings and systems, while keeping an eye on details of appearance, efficient functioning and costs of operation.
  • Manage all facilities staff and maintain proper controls over safety, schedules, meetings, budgets, performance appraisals, discipline and hiring of new staff.
  • Supervise up to 25 employees.
  • Manage all resort parking operations, to ensure a properly trained staff and efficient use of parking lot space.
  • Responsible for maintenance staff, security operations coordination with contracted trades services such as electrical, HVAC/plumbing, carpentry, plowing, landscaping etc.
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure timely responses to their needs.
  • Ability to perform with very short lead times and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Estimate and manage small to medium construction projects as required.
  • Coordinate with the Events Department in set up, operations, and break down of all events.
  • Hands on participation in projects and daily tasks as required.
  • Must constantly be planning for short- and long-term changes.

QUALIFICATIONS :
  • High School graduate with post-secondary trades/vocational training plus 5 years professional trades experience and 5 years' experience at management level in the facilities maintenance area, preferably in a Northeastern environment.
  • College degree in engineering, resort management or other appropriate discipline may substitute for some professional trade experience.
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of current state of the art technology and creative thoughts on ways to implement improvements is essential.
  • Prior experience in building trades with tools and grounds maintenance/landscaping is preferred.
  • Experience with swimming pool maintenance & HVAC is a plus.
  • Use of snow removal equipment including plow trucks may be required.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Will need a valid driver's license and must pass a motor vehicle check, as company vehicle use is expected.
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays and occasional evenings; work involves indoor and outdoor tasks in various types of weather.
