The Medical Assistant (MA) position is assimilated throughout St. Charles Health System encompassing practices in three Central Oregon counties and numerous specialties including orthopedic services, family care, internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, immediate/urgent care, cardiology, pulmonology, rheumatology, general surgery, cancer care, behavioral health, and sleep medicine. Our MAs collaborate with physicians and non-clinical staff to assure we are providing our community with comprehensive and compassionate health care. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for daily patient flow for each respective physician for whom they work. Must use triage skills to gather information from which designated staff can make appropriate patient health assessments and to anticipate physician's needs as they relate to the patients' medical care. This position does not manage any other caregivers. Essential functions include escorting patients to exam rooms and prepping for physician assessment, recording and maintaining patient's medical data, assisting physicians with phone requests, performing physician-requested ancillary and/or surgical patient procedures (excluding IV medication administration), maintaining equipment and supply inventory, supporting organizational vision, mission, and values, supporting Lean principles of continuous improvement, providing a safe environment, maintaining professionalism and confidentiality, complying with laws and policies, delivering customer service and patient care, and performing additional duties as assigned. Education required is a high school diploma or GED, with preference for graduates of accredited Medical Assistant programs. Licensure/certification required includes current MA Certification from recognized organizations or licensure as EMT, LPN, or RN in Oregon, and AHA Basic Life Support certification. Experience required includes basic knowledge of ICD-10, CM/CPT/HCPCS coding, medical practice management systems, and physician office documentation standards. Personal protective equipment must be worn as required. Physical requirements include standing, walking, sitting, lifting, and other activities as detailed. Schedule is full-time, 40 hours weekly, with shifts as scheduled including possible weekends and holidays.
