Job Title: Polishing Associate

Job Description

As a Polishing Associate, you will be responsible for polishing, buffing, and cleaning acrylic windows to remove scratches, pits, and any imperfections. You will work within the Production department, specifically in the Dry Buff-Wet Buff area.

Responsibilities

• Check windows for scratches, pits, and distortion.
• Use an orbital sander with different grits of sandpaper to repair damaged areas.
• Repeat sanding steps as necessary to remove larger scratches.
• Use polish and a high-speed polisher to remove hairline scratches.
• Wipe windows down with a clean cloth after polishing.
• Inspect windows and send them to Final Inspection if they appear satisfactory.
• Sign-off on all work orders and maintain traceability of parts to the appropriate work order.
• Seek guidance and direction as necessary for performance duties.
• Keep the supervisor/manager informed about the status of work being performed.
• Inform the supervisor/manager about problems and potential problems as early as possible.
• Report to work on time each day, after lunch, and not leave early.
• Maintain the work area in a neat and orderly manner.
• Maintain a well-groomed appearance appropriate for the position and situation.
• Respect the confidentiality of the Company, customer, and personnel information.
• Perform other duties and tasks as may be assigned by the supervisor.
• Assist and train other employees as needed.

Essential Skills

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
• 1 year of orbital sanding experience preferred.
• Auto body or wood sanding experience preferred.
• Ability to determine upon initial inspection if an imperfection can be repaired.
• Ability to identify the proper procedures to accomplish tasks.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• General manufacturing
• Experience working in fast-paced environments.
• 1 year of manufacturing experience in any field preferred.
• Experience with polishing or buffing.
• Ability to understand and follow documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and process specifications.
• Ability to communicate clearly at all times.
• Mechanically inclined.

Work Environment

The production environment is very clean, bright, and climate-controlled. Safety goggles and protective gloves are required to ensure your safety while working. You will be standing or sitting for 7 to 9 hours a day, lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs, and bending and stooping for 5 to 6 hours daily. The plant is both air-conditioned and heated to provide a comfortable working environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wichita, Kansas.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $17.00/hr.
